The Sims Freeplay - Guide to Midtown Café
MidTown Café is a coffee shop. like a cafe in real life, there are several staff that you can hire such as baristas, waiters, managers, and so on.
You can hire a worker sim (not your own sim). We will explain below how to hire them.
Here you can also decorate the cafe however you want. Make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible so you can experience being the successful boss of a cafe.
MidTown Cafe' is located in Simtown near the river next to Children's Store.
When you update the latest version of the sims freeplay, you will get a notification, and be guided directly to the cafe building.
However, you can only use this cafe when you are at least level 27.
No need to rush, because this event has no time limit. Collect a lot of simoleons first, because to open MidTown Cafe' also needs money.
How to get started?
Build MidTown Cafe', by clicking on the MidTown Cafe' building icon:
After the building process is complete, Barry Ista will guide you on how to manage the cafe.
Click the MidTown Cafe' icon on the top left corner, to find out the progress and all information about MidTown Cafe'.
What should I do?
You will manage a cafe, which sells coffee, dissert, salad, etc.
Here you have to serve the customers quickly. Don't let them get disappointed and angry.
Hire professional staff and upgrade items in your cafe so that buyers feel comfortable and satisfied.
When buyers are happy, they will give you a rating (Likes), which if collected can be exchanged for rewards.
There are 2 types of buyers:
+ Walk ins = These are regular buyer, who will walk into your cafe, buy a coffee, pay, then leave.
+ Tourists = These people come by bus. Of course, they come in groups
They will buy coffee and not only pay you with Cafe' Credit, but will also give you a "Like".
These likes are useful for filling up the progress bar of the MidTown Cafe, so you can unlock new tools and get some rewards.
What is Cafe' Credit?
cafe credit is the currency for midtown cafe. Cafe credit can be used to upgrade equipment, hire new staff, provide training for staff, and pay their salaries.
What is "Like"?
These likes are probably some kind of "tips" that you get from satisfied customers.
Its purpose is to fill up the progress bar of the Midtown Cafe, so that you can unlock new tools and get some rewards.
There are 3 types of tourists:
Influencers = They have a blue timer ring. If you can serve them before the blue circle turns green, you will get a Like.
Moneybags = They have a yellow timer ring. If you can serve them before the yellow ring turns green, you will get more Cafe Credit.
Impatient = They have an orange timer ring. They are "impetuous" customers. So you have to serve them first before their ring turns red, which means they start to get angry. Angry customers are stressful for your staff
How do you prioritize impatient customers if they are at the back of the line?
Click on the impatient, select "Bump". That way, they will be moved to the front of the line.
What happens if a customer gets angry?
Your staff will feel stressed. Marked by the appearance of a red temperature symbol
+ If they have 2 stress events in 1 shift they may call in sick:.
+ If they have 3 stress events in 1 shift they will quit
How to deal with stressed staff?
Click on the stressed staff, then select "send on break". They will take a break after serving customers. This will allow them to take a short break from work, and reduce their stress temperature. They will return to work when their stress temperature clears.
If they feel very stressed, they will send on break automatically.
Or you can click "time off" on the manage tab on the midtown cafe icon in the Rostered Staff section.
What happens if the staff resigns?
Then you have to recruit new employees
To save Cafe credit, you can rehire staff who have resigned, because the cost of recruiting is cheaper than recruiting new staff.
How to get to MidTown Cafe?
You can just click "Active Tabs", click the MidTown Cafe icon.
those working in the Cafe are not your sims, so you can't control them. They only work according to the desk job. All you can do is send them “send on break” or “bumping” (interrupting the queue).
You can put 10 of your sims in the cafe, but not for work, okay... Just for hanging out. Whenever they can visit the Cafe except when the "Tour" is in progress.
Tours
To start a tour, click the bus icon in the upper left corner.
There will be 3 tour options available, Tour Easy (easy), Tour Challenging (Challenging), Tour Risk.
The more difficult tour, the more tourists will come,
You can complete 4 tours in 1 shift with a span of 4 hours. Every time you finish 1 shift, you will be given a 1 hour break before you can tour again.
Serving Tourist is the only way to get "Like"

Reward Progress Bar - There are 45 levels that must be passed to maximize the upgrade of this cafe. Every time you level up your cafe, you will get the specified prize.
This progress bar can only be filled with Likes, which you get from serving Tourists.:
Some levels have Milestone Rewards, you need to complete these stages in the time limit to earn those items for free otherwise you will need to purchase them to continue:
It will cost Café Credits to purchase café equipment if you don’t complete in the time limit:
It will cost social points if you fail to reach any of the café upgrade milestones on time, you have to pay before you can even complete another shift
I've unlocked a new machine, but why it doesn't appear in my cafe?
The Equipment/Machine will automatically be in the Cafe after the Shift ends.
The image with a red circle, is a place for information about problems in your cafe.
Some problems at the cafe are usually around:
Machines/equipment that need to be upgraded in order to fulfill customer orders
You haven't hired employees who can run certain machines/tools
To upgrade equipment, you can click tab 2.
Tab 2: Caffe Equipment
When you level up, you will usually get "requests" from customers. You can see in the image I circled below:
The icon I circled is the menu provided by your cafe
So, to fulfill the request, you have to upgrade the equipment needed to add a new menu. If not, you will not be able to fulfill customer requests.
The way to upgrade the equipment is by clicking "upgrade".
As you can see, that is the list of menus in the cafe after upgrading the equipment..

In this tab, there are 2 other tabs, namely "Equipment" and "Decor"
Equipment tab: contains a list of equipment that you have, and you can upgrade equipment here.
Decor tab: contains cafe furniture such as kitchen tables and queue steps.
There are several colors for equipment and table furniture that you can choose according to the theme of the cafe you want.
Click the icon I circled drawn below to choose a color:
You can change the whole cafe. You can move items, place decorations to make the room the way you want it.

Tab 3: Staff Management
Roster: On this tab there is a list of employees that you have. And information about the skills they have
Manage: This is the place to upgrade employee skills.
Every time they work, they will get XP, but they will also lose happiness.
When they have earned enough XP, you can send them for employee training.
This employee training, can upgrade their skills.
Click "purchase" to run the training
Upgraded skills include:
Level 1– No change yet
Level 2– 5 seconds faster in serving orders.
Levels 3–5% are more stress resistant.
Level 4– 5% recover faster on a “break”
Level 5– More tolerant of stress. So if normally employees will resign after going through 3 stress events, here they can be more patient so they will only resign after going through 4 stress events.
Level 6– 10 seconds faster in serving orders
Level 7–10% more stress resistant
Level 8– 10% recovers faster on a “break”
Level 9– More tolerant of stress. So if at level 5 they can survive up to 4 stress events, here they will only resign after going through 5 stress events.
Level 10–15 seconds faster in serving orders.
When their happiness is too low, they will call in sick and cannot work for 3 hours. To solve this problem, you can click "Time Off", so they can rest and be able to work again after 45 minutes.
Hire:
This tab contains a list of potential new employees that you can hire. If you feel that there is nothing on the list that fits your criteria, don't worry, because the list will change every 24 hours.
. . Below the photo, is the skill level information they have. The higher the level, the more expensive it will be
. . Employees are paid using Cafe Credit. You can see in the "WAGE" section. That is the salary information that you have to pay for them.
. . Beside Wage, there is a face icon, that is the happiness they had at that time. The better the happiness, the longer they work before they need "time off". And of course the price is more expensive.
Every piece of equipment in the cafe will have a specialist. For example, for a coffee machine, only the barista can use it, because he is a coffee specialist, and so on.
